Dear Ugly Truckling
I created this piece for the Adv. Type & Layout 'Zine' project, which had a theme of "our COVID experience". I decided to write about the DIY project I worked on during quarantine, and I chose to create a pop-up book in order to immerse my audience in the project details and give them a chance to explore and interact with the story at a slower pace.
Artist Statement
Art's greatest power is its ability to establish a meaningful connection between those who create it and those who consume it. That connection has allowed cultures to flourish across continents and across millennia. As artists, I believe that our greatest power is in creating that connection.
Through art, we have the power to tell our stories. We have the power to add joy and beauty to the world, as well as document its pain. We have the power to challenge ideas and sway our audiences’ minds. We have the power to imagine a better world, as well as help create it.
My goal as an artist is to do all of those things.
