This is a part of my 'ALCHEMY' series. An 8 painting series focusing on the emotional human experience. This piece is called 'Grief'. I think of this as a sacred space we get to experience. Which is why there is still a lot of color in the piece, even as she is curled into herself. Laying naked with her own personal experience of what grief is. Grief is opening. Grief is an initiation into meeting a deeper part of ourselves. Grief is connecting with that deep hurt in us. A hurt that connects us in some way to every single person who has felt grief.

Artist Statement
I was inspired to my art journey through an art therapist. On the days when I had to draw how an emotion felt in my body, I had massive breakthroughs! I could not deny the power of moving the emotions in me OUT onto paper. It was deeply transformative and had me hungry for more. I had always wanted to paint and decided to give myself a year to really give it my all. I have completely fallen in love with painting & feel I am still at the beginning of my painting journey.
There is truly no other feeling than creating something out of nothing. A really meaningful something at that. I have now been painting 2 years and am truly excited to see how far I can go with this!
